This glossary describes key features and terms used throughout the CuePilot application. Definitions include links to additional articles to help you find more information.

A
Add Panel
The Add Panel is the row of buttons below the Timeline. Depending on the Track selected different Add buttons will be available. With a Vision Track selected you will have Vision Cues in the Add Panel etc.
B
BOB Unit
BOB, short for 'Break Out Box', is CuePilot's entry level hardware device. The functionality of CuePilot at an affordable price. CuePilot's Studio Server features run over the network from your own laptop, with the BOB unit connecting to the vision switcher, LTC and GPIs.

Cameras
Cameras can be configured in the Cameras view. Cameras are either manual or preset. Manual cameras are operated by a human who receives cues to follow along to an Item with CueApp. Preset cameras are PTZ camera that has its shots cued by recalling saved presets.

PTZ Presets
Cameras view
The Cameras view lets you configure a specific Project's Cameras, whether they are preset or manual, as well as change their colours, number, set a default shot description and how they are routed through the Vision Switcher. In the Cameras view you can import Cameras settings from a previous Project, replacing your current Project's Cameras settings from another Project you have access to.

Cloud Server
CuePilot uses its own backend to sync changes between users of shared Projects over the internet. In the top bar of CuePilot are the Cloud Server status symbols, indicating if there are any changes (entries) to be synced to the server, and whether the Cloud Server is online and available.
Control Panel
The command panel is part of the CuePilot's Item's interface. It includes buttons for commonly used commands that can be triggered by click, or with keyboard shortcuts.
Control Track
All Items' Timelines include a Control Track that you can use to add Cues to automate playback of an Item. For example, you could add a Cue at the end of an Item to load the next Item, making it possible to connect multiple Items.
CueApp
CueApp is an application that runs on tablets and mobile devices, on iOS and Android. It enables everyone in a production to have their own customised view of upcoming Cues, with as little or as much information as they need.
CueApp when used during the live studio production connects to the Studio Server's CueApp Server to receive and display cues.

CueApp Server...
CuePilot
CuePilot both refers to the desktop application as well as collectively, the whole system of hardware and software that work together. In the CuePilot application, work is done in Projects, consisting of Rundowns that contain Items, as well as the whole system of hardware and software.
CuePilot 6.0 for Mac and Windows adds innovative features like PTZ Presets and OSC Schemas. CuePilot can now control and cue more systems than ever, from vision switchers to media servers, special effects to the camera department.
When you go live, CuePilot plays through the Item's cues, controlling the vision switcher for executing cuts, playing to CueApp for the entire produciton to be cued, and controlling other systems and devices through OSC, GPI and MIDI.
CuePilot Remote
CuePilot Remote is a function in CuePilot for allowing remote control of CuePilot, so that a second instance of CuePilot can be running in sync, allowing additional collaboration as well as redundancy.

Cues List
The Cues List is a panel in the Item view that displays all Cues of the selected Track in a list view. If a Vision Track is selected you can display either all Vision Cues or just those of the selected camera.

Home view
The Home view is seen after a user signs in and lists all Projects available to that user. Every user will have a free DEMO Project included.

Info view
The Info view in CuePilot includes keyboard shortcuts and links to CuePilot Support.

Item
An Item is an individual performance in a show. It might be a song, an opening number, or a performance. Each Item contains all the Cues for that particular song.
Item view
The Item view displays a Timeline containing Tracks which contain Cues. Additional Panels let you add and adjust the Cues in the Tracks in the timeline. You can show/hide Lists that contain more elements of an Item. You can show/hide the Shotlist for viewing an Items' main Vision Cues.

Live OSC
Live OSC is the function of CuePilot sending OSC of every Cue in a Timeline as it is being played, live, for other systems to listen for.

Lyrics Track
A Lyrics Track in an Item lets you add text to the Timeline. Use the Cues List to add text, line by line, as Lyrics Cues.

MAX Project
A MAX Project is the top-of-the-line Project and suits large productions. It lets you control up to 48 Cameras and collaborate with unlimited Users.

MINI Project
A MINI Project is our entry level Project type. It is at a more affordable price and suitable for small or simple productions with control of up to 5 cameras and it lets you collaborate with 3 Users. Suitable for the BOB unit.

Media List
The Media List is a panel in the Item view that lets you add Media such as video or audio files to an Item's Timeline. You can show/hide Media as well as share with other Users of the Project. With the Production Server or Production Kit you can record rehearsals and review them immediately, import and upload and share with the studio crew using CueApp.

Notes List
The Notes List is a panel in the Item view that lets you share text notes between Users. Leave specific notes per Item for other Users of the same Project to see.

OSC stands for Open Sound Control and is a powerful tool for expanding the capability and interoperability of CuePilot with other production systems.

OSC Schemas
OSC Schemas are code that allows you to expand the capability of CuePilot. You can send commands to any application or system that is controllable via OSC. Implemented in CuePilot are OSC Schemas for common use cases like Disguise and CasparCG. It is also possible to define your own custom OSC Schemas with detailed commands for other applications.

PRO Project
A PRO Project is a type of Project that includes more Users, Cameras and storage than a MINI Project, but less than a MAX Project.
PTZ Cameras
PTZ Cameras are remotely control cameras that can controlled and cued. PTZ stands for pan, tilt and zoom. CuePilot supports recalling PTZ Presets and traces through the VISCA over IP and Panasonic HTTP protocols.

PTZ Presets view
The PTZ Presets view lets you add and modify presets for PTZ cameras. PTZ Presets are the individual shots that have been saved and stored on a PTZ camera. So that they can be recalled in CuePilot, add each camera's presets to the PTZ Presets view, including its name, description and whether it is a fixed shot, or a trace.

Rundown
A Rundown is list of Items. Each Rundown can have a name and the Items within it can be reordered and labelled.
S
S6 Studio Server
The S6 Studio Server will be CuePilot's most powerful yet. Rack mounted for stability and security, yet right at your fingertips in a production gallery. It includes an in-built recorder, enabling studio rehearsals to be recorded and immediately added to an Item's timeline and shared with the studio crew using CueApp.
Setup view
The Setup view in CuePilot lets you adjust different system settings and enable and disable Studio Server features.
Shotlist
A Shotlist is a specific view that can be enabled/disabled in an Item. It displays all of the Vision Cues from the main Vision Track in one place, listing in a visual waterfall style the camera number, shot number, shot description and duration. It is visible within the CuePilot application. The CueScreen and CueApp can also be used to display additional information, like a camera countdown.

Studio Panel
The Studio Panel can be turned on an off in Setup > Layout and is a feature that provides additional controls specific for operating CuePilot in a live studio environment.

Studio Server
A Studio Server is the combination of CuePilot software and hardware that enables connection to production equipment. A Studio Server runs the CuePilot application as a User with access to a Project. It is configured to have CuePilot's system features enabled and functions as a server for other devices and systems to connect to.
The S6 Studio Server and Nexus Studio Server are computers that run the CuePilot software and also have hardware connections. The BOB unit is a Break Out Box for a laptop, the server functionality runs from the laptop and the BOB unit provides the hardware connections.

Tracks
Tracks are part of the Timeline, and contain Cues. There are different types of Tracks for different functions, such as Vision Tracks for adding Vision Cues and Lyrics Tracks for Lyrics Cues.
If a Track is visible/on, it will be executed. If a Track is not visible/off it will not be executed.
Tracks List
The Tracks List is a panel that can be shown/hidden and displays all Tracks in an Item's Timeline. Add more Tracks, show/hide Tracks and enable/disable and delete them from the Tracks List.
Track OSC
Track OSC is the use of OSC Tracks to add OSC Cues to the Timeline to control specific devices/systems. You can expand on the included OSC Schemas with your own custom OSC Schemas.

Transfer view
The Transfer view in CuePilot lets you see the status of Media that is uploading or downloading to the Cloud Server for access by other Users of a Project.

Users
Each person using CuePilot is a User and has an account accessed with their email and password. Users are added to Projects for collaboration between teams. There are different levels of User access to projects.

Vision Cue
Vision Cues are in Vision Tracks and contain information about each planned shot in an Item. Each Vision Cue identifies a shot showing which Camera, the Shot description, Transition type, Shot number and any Comments.

Vision Track
Vision Tracks contain Vision Cues. Each Vision Track is executed on a particular channel of the Vision Switcher, such as ME1, AUX1, or PGM. Some Items will only require a single Vision Track, however more complicated Items might have multiple Vision Tracks, with a Vision FX Track triggering keys and effects on them.

Vision FX Track
A Vision FX Track lets you add Cues to an Item's Timeline for effects from the Vision Switcher, such as mems, macros, effects and keys.
