Introduction
CuePilot makes it easy to move Cues whilst preventing accidental changes. With an Item open, you can see and adjust all Cues in the Timeline.
Select and use the draggers to Adjust Cues
To adjust a Cue, select the Cue you want to adjust.
The Cue will display a grab bar at the start and end of it, that you can click and drag to adjust
Additional information is also displayed above the Cue, from left to right this information is:
- Show if there are any other shots from the same camera before the selected Cue. (There are 0 shots from camera 2 before the selected Cue in this example)
- Show the time this Cue starts at. (The cue starts at 4:15 on the Timeline in this example)
- Show the duration of the shot. (The duration of this shot is 2:18 in this example)
- Show if there are any other shots from the same camera after the selected Cue. (There are 3 more shots from camera 2 on the Timeline after the selected Cue in this example)
- Show the time before another shot from the same camera (There is 4:14 before another camera 2 shot in this example)
Trim Tool
You can also use the Trim tool to adjust Cues.
To adjust the nearest Cue to the Playhead in the Timeline, press the T key, and that Cue will be adjusted to start at the Playhead.
The Trim tool will only Trim the closest Cue on the active Track to the current Playhead position
Move Cues by 1 frame, or 10 frames
You can move a selected cue by 1 frame at a time, or 10 frames at a time.
To adjust by 1 frame select the Cue then use the keyboard shortcut (Mac: Command-Arrow left/right, PC: Ctrl+Arrow left/right) to move that Cue backwards/forwards 1 frame at a time.
To adjust by 10 frames select the Cue then use the keyboard shortcut (Mac: Shift-Command-Arrow left or right, PC: Shift+Ctrl+Arrow left or right) to move the selected Cue backwards/forwards 10 frames at a time.
Move all Cues
You can move all Cues on a selected Track at once. Select all Cues (Mac: Command-A, PC: Ctrl+A or the 'All' button) then press and hold the Shift key to display the grab bar and click and drag. All selected Cues will be adjusted.
Move a Selection of Cues
You can also move just a selection of Cues at once.
Make a selection of specific Cues, by selecting the first Cue, then adding to the selection (Mac: Command-Click, PC: Ctrl-Click) until you've selected all the Cues you want to move. Then use the grab bar at the start of the first cue and drag to adjust.
Make a make a selection of multiple Cues by selecting the first Cue, then Shift-Click the last Cue and all Cues in between will be selected. Then press and hold the Shift key to display the grab bar and click and drag to adjust.
Move Cues Using Cut, Copy and Paste
Similarly to 'Move a selection of Cues', first make a selection of Cues. Then cut them out using the command buttons or keyboard shortcuts. (Mac: Command-X or Windows: Ctrl+X), move the Playhead to where you want the pasted Cues to start from, and Paste, using the command buttons or keyboard shortcuts. (Mac: Command-V or Windows: Ctrl+V)
To move by a specific number of frames, you can move the Playhead by 1 or 10 frames at a time using the Right/Left Arrow or Shift-Right/Left Arrow keyboard shortcut, and then Paste.
Also instead of moving Cues with by cutting them and pasting them, you could duplicate them, by copying, moving the Playhead as desired and then pasting them.
